Everyone is talking about ‘Going Green’ or ‘How Big Your Carbon Foot Print Is’. All the citizens of this rock we call Earth are waking up and realizing we need to change. Not only change our environment but the way we live, especially our consumption habits.
Everything is disposable these days from diapers and latex gloves to soft drink cans even cameras have joined the disposable rank and file. Disposables and consumable are not just items; they are a way of life. We treat energy in much the same fashion. We think nothing of leaving a light on or our computer running all night. It’s safe to say many of the developed countries of the world have little regard for their use of energy let alone the saving of it. We consume power as if it will always be there. I have news for all of human kind;. much of the power comes from nonrenewable sources; coal, petroleum products and natural gas. These natural resources are dwindling at an disturbing rate.
If we examine all the sources of energy we find a few that are environmentally safe. Wind, water and solar power are continually renewable. We have seen the construction of wind farms around the country. The Hoover Dam is still one of the biggest power producers in the world. Then we have the sun, that nasty phenomenon that burns our skin, causes skin cancer and fries our crops when it doesn’t rain. Oh, the sun isn’t all bad, it creates the Aurora Borealis or northern lights and breath taking sunrises and sunsets. But, Mr. Sun does produce one thing that will benefit our planet for years to come. Solar power; it is by far our easiest and most renewable source of energy.
Solar power has been around for a while but, it has always been cost prohibitive in terms of equipment and installation. Even years of savings from electric and gas bills still doesn’t add up to enough to justify the cost of these energy efficient panels.
What many people don’t know is they can make these solar panels and install them without breaking the bank.
Solar do it yourself panels are easy to construct but, you have to get the materials list and instructions. The materials required for construction of these panels is minimal and reasonably priced. Many of the supplies you need you probably have in your garage or basement. And the few other items can be purchased at your neighborhood hardware store or home improvement retailer. Because these panels require basic materials, maintenance cost are low. These do it yourself solar panels can be assembled in a reasonable amount of time. Most home owners are surprised at how a small investment can produce such satisfying returns.
Once you master the solar energy coming into your home that power will provide you and your family with more power that they can consume. When you listen to your friends and family whining about their energy bills you can take pleasure in knowing you not only made a wise choice, but the right one.
The time and money you devoted to solar power will start providing returns within the first few weeks. You can also take pride in knowing that Solar do it yourself, is touching the future. You are creating safe, environmentally responsible surroundings for generations to come.
